Sciroccati [ʃi.rokˈka.ti] is the plural form of the Italian adjective sciroccato, literally meaning someone struck by the hot, dry Sirocco wind. Sciroccati are people who are dizzy, looney, hot-headed, or even slightly mad from the heat and wind.

Scirocco Dance Theatre was co-founded in 2020 by choreographer and researcher Irene Fiordilino and sound designer Aidan Good. Together with many associate artists we work at the intersection between choreography, architecture and storytelling.
We like to play with different materials (cardboard, wood, grass, light, bubbles) and explore diverse performance media (staged pieces, installations, films, outdoor site-specific works). Our aim is to raise awareness on the impact of architecture on societies’ values, beliefs and behaviours, looking at environmental issues and the relation between politics and urban geographies.

Irene Fiordilino
Irene is a London-based choreographer and researcher. She is also associate director of London International Screen Dance Festival and a freelance teacher with International experience. Irene works as a lecturer and supervisor at Trinity Laban, teaching both in the Dance and Music Faculties.
Irene holds a PhD in Creative Practice (Dance) jointly awarded in 2023 by City University of London and Trinity Laban. Her doctoral project, Transitory Architecture, explores the intersection between choreography and architecture through practice research. This interdisciplinary approach continues to inform the social dimension of Scirocco’s work.

Aidan Good
Aidan is a sound designer and operator with international experience. He has worked as a sound engineer on several West End productions, both in London and on UK tours.
Aidan has worked across theatre, musical theatre, and dance; his versatility has gained him hands-on experience across almost every technical department.
He is also an experienced carpenter who has designed and built a broad range of sets from scratch for multiple companies and venues. Aidan’s technical expertise feeds into the company’s cross-disciplinary approach, especially when it comes to playing with sound, lighting and material experimentation.
…his genuine enthusiasm for collaboration and unshakable faith in trial-and-error processes is Aidan’s secret to turn any engineering challenge in unexpected mechanical solutions.
