Self-portrait in yellow shades
Self-portrait in yellow shades (2017-2019) is a hybrid performance blending physical theatre and dance. It unfolds as an ironic exploration of identity and the tension between being and being seen, looking and interpreting. By dancing her own self-portrait, the artist exposes the fleeting, ever-shifting images we create of ourselves.
Through direct provocation of the audience, the piece invites reflection on how perception reveals more about the observer than the observed... a yellow trace of who we think we are.
